In the rain season the tower stops being a viewpoint and starts being a shelter. The hotel sits inside one of the city's tallest buildings, and when cloud settles on the upper floors the streets underneath simply leave the windows for an hour or two at a time.
Where everyone goes
The indoor observation level takes over, its glass running floor to ceiling, and the lower public floors carry the rest: restaurant, bar, lobby. The lifts become the day's main street, and people move between levels rather than between blocks, which is a different kind of walking.
What stops working
The open-air deck with its glass floor and the open-air bar above depend on conditions and may be closed, along with the pool terrace. What was booked as a view becomes a window, and the queue for it moves indoors.
What the building does
The building answers by stacking everything it has. One core of lifts serves the public floors, the podium keeps arrival under cover, and the indoor level was built to stand in for the roof rather than to console anyone.
