When the weather turns
Coastal rain here is steady rather than sudden, and it settles in for days at a time. The resort stands along the Fraser in Richmond with the rail station next door, and a covered walkway runs between the two, so the wet part of an arrival is unusually short.
Where everyone goes
Guests move between the hotel, the show theatre and the food halls of the complex, most of it reachable without going out; an overhead covered walkway ties the annex to the hotel. Evenings collect in the theatre when something is programmed, and in the restaurants when nothing is.
What stops working
The riverside promenade, the marina walk and the outdoor terraces depend on conditions. Trips into Vancouver still work, since the trains run from under cover, but the walking part of any plan gets shortened or moved to another day.
What the building does
Covered links are the answer here too. The station walkway, the overhead connection and a single large podium mean the whole resort can be crossed dry, and the theatre gives a rainy evening a fixed place to be at a fixed hour.
