The address is an island, with open water on every side and wind that arrives unobstructed.

When the weather turns

The address is an island in the river, with open water on every side and wind that arrives with nothing in its way. The complex is made from pavilions built for the world exhibition held on this ground, and an annex was added later to join those two buildings together.

Where everyone goes

On a wet day almost everything happens inside that join. Guests cross between the pavilions through the annex, and the restaurants, halls and lifts of the complex carry the hours; the grounds outside, laid out for walking, wait for a drier hour, and few people test them.

What stops working

The island's paths, the gardens and the walk along the water depend on conditions and can be wet enough to be given up. Reaching the island takes longer in poor visibility, and outdoor terraces may not be set at all.

What the building does

The building answers with the annex. Two large pavilions of quite different shape were tied together so the complex reads as a single interior, and the entrances sit under cover, which on an island matters more than it sounds.

It was built as one connected complex, so on a snowed-in evening nothing there needs a coat.
